The A-Series is where Andersen puts its best materials. The exterior cladding is fiberglass rather than vinyl — it expands and contracts at nearly the same rate as the glass it holds, so seals stay under less stress through the freeze-and-thaw cycle that defines a NY/NJ winter. Inside it is wood.
It also offers eleven exterior colors against seven interiors, with the option of leaving the wood natural, unfinished or stained — comfortably the widest range of the five. For an architect-drawn extension or a full renovation where the opening is meant to be seen, that range is usually the reason to choose it.
It gets you the widest openings too — up to 189" wide and 96" high across three- and four-panel configurations — and, unusually for a door at this size, it still sizes custom in 1/8" increments.
The A-Series Patio Doors are available in one, two, three and four panel styles. The real choice on this door — same opening, same glass, what changes is how much of it you see.
Both styles go well beyond two panels, and the grilles are a separate choice from the framing. The At-a-glance table below gives the full range.
